I've been very lucky recently to use my art for what is certainly the most important pickleball project being built in Canada, and I'm not being delusional when I say that.

Hubby and I were seriously considering moving to a town that had indoor winter pickleball when we caught wind of a rumor that a new facility was being built nearby. Just around that same time, a friend of mine (who was rumored to be a part of the proposed facility) joined Facebook and added me as a friend. I took this as an opportunity to address the rumor, and I wrote to her and offered that if the rumors were true, I would be happy to help out with any digital art they might need to create. That was last December/January, when she and her hubby took me up on the offer, and ever since that moment, I've been a small part of a team of silent plotters working to make it all happen.
And what a team it is, complete with arguably Canada's most medal decorated PPA pro and MLP coach Steve Deakin taking the reigns on the pickleball strategy, and Pickleball Depot bringing their third location FINALLY down the to the lower mainland? (people are SO excited)
This is bound to be a pickleball mecca!
Added to the fun, the Seaside Volleyball Club will be taking a spot in the Volleyball building and welcoming volleyballers and other clubs for play indoors. All slated to be
in a state of the art, purpose built facility which is going in right beside a major shopping and food destination Tsawwassen Mills, on the Tsawwassen First Nation Lands.
People are saying "sign me up yesterday" because not only do we need it, but The Nest Sports is lining up to be an athletic fun zone that no one is going to want to miss going to.
I know this because I was there on launch day when the team took a tent and some handouts to the Grip n Rip tournament in South Surrey and I saw for myself how people were excited, meanwhile, Steve Deakin dropped a video made by Steve's media guru, Neil Parker of Parker Pickleball, and it flew all over the web! See it on Steve Deakin's webpage here
I was truly amazed at how Neil Parker made my action figure images come to life. Yep those orange people are mine. I created the logo at first based on instruction from the team, while the action figures I added to match, and they stuck around to become the theme. I really enjoyed the process of collaborating and make no mistake my fingers may have created the images but where we landed with them, how they look and how they fit into the project? was the result of everyone's input.
And did it ever look good....

Team Nest right there in the photo above, dedicated, funny as heck and awesome pickleball players.

I ADORE these ladies, Heather Loiselle and Stacy Deakin for not only making me laugh out loud but for giving me purposeful art to do. I simply love them and their love for pickleball and absolute need to geek out on it. It's the best of all worlds. I also got to use my musicality and repped The NEST by singing the anthem to open the tournament for two days. See the video on Steve Deakin's Instagram here!
And if you head out to the build site and go into the shopping center beside it (near entrance 4) you will see a display featuring the video and also my artwork on flags, prepping everyone for what is about to come!
